A shared table became two coffees. Two coffees became a paper boat. The boat barely moved, but we did. Seven years later, we'd love you to join us where this story began.

A table for the weather
AnayaI was finishing a cover at Papa's café when the rain made everyone stay. Ishaan asked if the chair opposite me was free. I said it was free until the rain stopped. It rained for two hours.
IshaanI had a dry umbrella and no good reason to leave. She asked about the lines on my map. I asked about the bird she was drawing. Neither of us noticed that the coffees had gone cold.

A very small voyage
AnayaHe folded the bill into a boat. I wrote ‘Don't get lost’ on it. We put it in the smallest puddle on the road. It immediately turned around and came back.
IshaanAnaya said it was a good omen. I said it was probably the drainage gradient. I have learned to choose my moments.

Letters between cities
AnayaBengaluru had my work; Kochi had his fieldwork. We started sending postcards because a letter makes you slow down. He drew the same little boat on every one. Some arrived after he did.
IshaanHer envelopes always had a pressed leaf or a ticket inside. Mine mostly had weather reports. She says they were love letters anyway.

A question without a forecast
AnayaHe asked outside the old house on a perfectly dry afternoon. I was expecting a walk. He was expecting me not to notice the ring box. Both of us were wrong.
IshaanI had checked three weather apps. None of them could tell me whether I would manage a whole sentence. She said yes. Then we went for coffee.

Come, whatever the weather
TogetherWe kept the little boat. We kept writing. And now we're making room for everyone who helped us get here. A courtyard when the sky is kind, a beautiful room when it isn't, and you with us either way.
Come, whatever the weather.
